Volume 4: The Dimensions of Spirit

Workbook 37.3: Conjugates

Directives for the Mirror-Watcher:

1. Find the Conjugate: Change the sign of the 'i' term. ($a+bi o a-bi$).
2. Grounding Product: $z cdot; bar{z}$ always equals $a^2 + b^2$.
3. Identity Check: The sum $z + bar{z}$ is always a purely Real number ($2a$).
4. Division Key: To divide, multiply top and bottom by the conjugate of the denominator.

Part I: Finding the Mirror Image

Give the complex conjugate $bar{z}$ for each number.

$z = 5 + 3i$

bar{z} = **5 - 3i**.

$z = -2 - 7i$

...

$z = 10i$

...

$z = 4$

...

Part II: The Grounding Calculation

Find the product $z cdot; bar{z}$ for each number from Part I. Show the final Real value.

For $z = 5 + 3i$

$(5+3i)(5-3i) = 25 - 9i^2 = 25 + 9 = **34**.

For $z = 10i$

...
The Reflection Check:

In the Kingdom, we find our "Substance" by looking in the mirror. What is the sum $(5+3i) + (5-3i)$? Why is the result purely Real? What does this tell you about the Balance of the Spirit when we integrate our heights and our depths?

Part III: Complex Division

Simplify each fraction by multiplying the denominator by its conjugate.

$\frac{1}{3 + 4i}$

Step 1: Multiply top/bottom by (3-4i).
Bottom: 3^2 + 4^2 = 25.
Result: **(3 - 4i) / 25**.

$\frac{10}{i}$
Hint: The conjugate of $i$ is $-i$.

Part IV: The Challenge (The Total Magnitude)

The Unity of the Worlds

A soul has three parts: Body ($a=1$), Mind ($b=2$), and Spirit ($c=3$).
Represent this as a 3D complex number... Wait, we only have 2D!
Let's use $z_1 = 1 + 2i$ and $z_2 = 3$.
Task: Find the magnitude $|z_1|$ and $|z_2|$. Which part of the soul is currently carrying the most "Weight"?

...

Part V: Transmission (The Echad Extension)

Teacher Log: The Glass Basin

Objective: Explain the Conjugate to a younger student using a clear glass of water.

The Activity:
1. Hold a pencil in the water at an angle.
2. Look from the side. You see the pencil and its reflection in the surface.
3. "The reflection is the conjugate. it shows the part of the pencil that is 'Unseen' from the top."

The Lesson: "God sees our reflection in His Spirit. it helps Him know our true strength even when we are underwater."
